When a friend of hers told Norwegian artist about "la tricteuse" - women who would knit next to the guillotine during the French revolution - it began a fascination with the historical relationships between knitting and the death penalty. The result was an ambitious and unique project to recreate the cell of one man on death row in the United States.

Two years ago Kjaersti met Carlton A Turner, awaitng execution in Texas, Artsworld charts the history of their fascinating and ambitous art collaboration.
