Lightning strikes in the same place four times! Amam is back again with a forceful EP that create a dancefloor storm, one that's swirling with funk and subtle details for an artful balance. As with the previous three Amam EPs, 22-year-old label owner Alessio Mereu is involved, this time bringing fellow Italian producer Matteo Spedicati aboard. The two both have a number of successful releases on labels like Contexterrior, Parquet and CMYK, and they first started working together for last fall's Laws of Attraction EP on Toys For Boys Records. The lead track found its way into many respected DJs' sets and just appeared on The Duke Dumont's FabricLive51. Now, the duo are back for a second helping of synthetic house, with energy and elegance in equal amounts.
Kicking things off, Mereu offers the solo cut "Knock Over" with rich melodic vibes dancing over feverish percussion, and the chanting voice of... could that be Timbaland? "Here I Am" is a joint effort with Spedicati, which uses some twisted traces of diva vocals for a subversive effect. Spedicati's own "Are You Insane" features the ghost of Billie Holiday repeating the track's title, and the psychotic beat will definitely turn any sanitarium into a dance party! Finally, the two team up once again for "Let Me In", with a shining synth-horn lead, serving as a beacon of light on the club floor.
