the only thing i can't understand is john kerry, a graduate of yale law school ,being a junior officer on a swift boat it does't make sense. Was he a plant by the anti war thugs? because most blue blood frat boys would'nt even consider military service

Maybe communism did not spread because russia had its resources tied up in Vietnam ? 5 years after America left, Afghanistan Grenada Panama. And Vietnam isnt a full blown communist country either, where buddist temples are used to store ammo. Maybe delaying the reunification until after maos death helped a bit there too.

Now looking back at the vietnam war, what has it done? It's mad us cry, made us hate each other, made us re-think why we went. Communism didn't spread and we are trading with the vietnamese today. So, we lost 58,000 Americans for what?

I just saw "GOING UPRIVER: THE LONG WAR OF JOHN KERRY". John Kerry and these other Vietnam Vets are the true Heroes. They showed the most bravery, honor, courage and act of selflessness bc they had the guts to stand up for their beliefs in order to do the right thing for the best interest of their nation, and to quickly resolve this Vietnam war that was a terrible injustice. Thank you Mr. John Kerry and VVAW. My heart goes out to you all.

Kerry was and still is an opportunist. Most of his medals were phoney, and he has never released his military records. His congressional "Testimony" has been proven a bunch of lies, and as a US senator, he has never requested the investigation of his lies be reviewed. Truely scum in the Senate. Not a peson I would allow in my home or on my property.

No arguement here. John Kerry's book "The New Soldier" is also filled with lies.
God Bless America and those that did their best to prevent the slaughter of over 1 million by Khmer Rouge when Democrats cut off the funding for Vietnam.
