Never released in the UK, "English" version of Disco Tango by Tommy Seebach the Danish Euro Entry in 1979. Very big on the UK Fun pub scene after it was brought back from Spain by Paul Kelly co owner with Joe W Pratt of the New York Bar in Wakefeid. A few Demo pressings from EMI have since got on to the market. This is taken directly from my vinyl demo disc.

  • Thanks Veredw, the title has been ammended although the description was correct.

  • @BrunnProductions ... :-)

  • BrunnProductions:- Text amended to show the song was specifically not released in the UK. :-)

  • I am speaking about the UK here and not mainland Europe. This is taken directly from a DEMO 7" vinyl Disc as the song was never released as a single in any language here in the UK back in the 1980s. Amazon show it as available as "Import Only" on the Disky label or they have one "Demo Disc" vinyl that is currently unavailable. There is still no official release of this record in the UK.

  • fabulous!

  • I also remember my third night on the disco, when we opened. Naturally I was nervous and Philip Colloby from the Amsterdam Bar said: " You are never going to make it on that disco, you would be better off going back behind the bar and getting

a record player there." This was said with the obvious cruel intention of destroying my confidence and a considerable amount of jealousy, However it had the reverse affect.

  • @JoeWPratt , remember it well , even learned to play the tamboine ( sort of ) (when I wasn't redoing the chalk board ) Hope your well , Zak the mad Tv

  • this song is in my top 5 best euro songs! i too like both versions - but if anyone remembers on the weeks before terry wogan also reviewed the songs and this song from their own tv programme had a girl do a shiver during the song - if they had herduring the live performance they would of won hands down

  • Damn, I've always been a fan of the original (danish) version of this song, but I never thought it existed in a english version.

Its lyrics isn't an exact translation of the danish lyrics, but the basic meaning of the words is roughly the same, and I must admit it sounds great.

  • This record was brought back from Spain by Paul Kelly and played first in the New

York Bar, Wakefield. As usual it was copied by all the other pubs, who had people

writing down the records. I once went into the Record Bar, Wakefield and Ken the owner showed me a list of records that somebody wanted. The funny thing was, it was in the exact sequence that Paul had played the previous night.

  • thanks, one of my fav. I think that 1979 was the best EVER Eurovision

Please ammend the title to 1979... not 80 (that was the one that took plave in Jerusalem ..)

    thanks
