  • That sounds great! I'm an old guitar player and love tube amps. I've done a lot of tube collecting and experimenting. I really like the 12av7(I've got like 50 of them), but the amps I use aren't really "made" for it. The tone is so good, though. I've never built an amp but I think I'd like to try the one you've made...and use the 12av7. Any advise/help about that? I'd really like to use your modification for the 12av7. I'll shoot you a tube for the courtesy. Thanks!

  • @mtmcb If you have a 12AU7, AT7, or AX7, it should work just fine. The amp here was designed for a 12AU7, so I just changed a few values to get a bit louder, since of course the 12AV7 has about twice the gain of the 12AU7.

Also, from a guitar amplifier view, I find that replacing the 12AX7 in the pre amp of my Hartke LH500 opens up the tone, giving it clearer highs and lows. Just overall a much more clean sound. We can email back and forth if you want. My email address is ww2guy1945@yahoo.com
