Restoring Fashion Jewelry To Look New or Different

Thank you all for the great ideas on how to keep my fashion jewelry from tarnishing. I sure did use the info on my jewels.
Also as I was doing my jewelry and spraying it down there were a couple of peices that I actually loved but was too late to protect because they had already tarnished. Then a LIGHT BULB came on in my head and I got a great idea. Not sure if anyone else has tried this but I sure thought it would be a great idea to try out.

I had 3 pairs of gold plated fashion earrings that were tarnished I decided to get some gold colored spray paint and spray them down. What you will need to do is the following:

Make sure you clean the surface of your fashion jewelry upon spraying.
Make sure you are in a well ventilated area ( I used my basement)
Make sure to lay your items on a flat surface (such as a slab of wood or plastic nothing the item will stick to once it is sprayed, of course it may stick a little to wood or plastic sheet or you can use a foil cookie sheet as well)
Cover up the post part of your earrings because that part will be going in your ear.
Spray evenly onto the top surface of your item allowing it to dry for at least 30 minutes. Once that side is dry you can then spray the back surface allowing it to dry the same amount of time.

You can use just about any colored spray paint if you need the earrings to be gold again then purchase a gold colored spray paint or if you want silver then purchase silver or if you wan to change the color entirely then purchase the color of your choice.

I was very happy with the outcome of my earrings as they were my favorite pairs. I hope you found this helpful. And if you try it out let me know how it works for you.

April, be careful with this product. I've used it for years in my crafts, and you really should be outside - you may think you're ventilated, but you may not be - that stuff can take you down pretty quickly (especially with kids in the house; it can travel through vents, etc.) - It will do the trick, however! Also, try not to spray your wires/posts of your earrings - Krylon can be toxic. I'm not saying don't use it, by all means do - just be careful!

what about jewelry chain? have you tried that? would the paint irritate the skin? how would the links be kept from sticking together?

Ok, I decided to come and research how I could rejuvenate my mainly gold earrings. I am so sick of purchasing earrings and other jewelry from BEBE only to have it tarnish in seriously like a week!!! This vid was the first that I came across and I am sooooo gonna try this!!! It totally makes sense!! Also I loveeee your makeup in this vid! Absolutely flawless. I have so many earrings also that were my fans and refused to throw them out!! Thanks for this tip!!

@jardona57 Which of the gold Krylon do you use? I tried one and it looked more copper than gold so this time I'm getting the premium Krylon 1000 gold. Is that a yellow gold?
