http://www.shapefit.com Wide grip pull ups are amazing for building overall thickness and width in your back. Add this exercise to your back workout and include bent over barbell rows and seated cable rows for a solid mass building back routine!

  • i can only do 6 reps with a wide grip.

  • I was doing 4 or so sets of these in my back workout but now I've decided to integrate them into my backwork sort of like a warmup, eg:

    2-3 sets of wide-grip pullups

    4 sets of lat pulldowns

    Yes they are a very similar exercise BUT when doing a pullup you have to control your weight on the weigh down, whereas on the lat pulldown you're controlling the weight as it goes upwards.

    If you can't get sore lats, since changing my workout to include both in this way my lats are sore as we speak.

  • ckranez, yes the wider you go the more beneficial for your lats, like jseth said... i make sure i get in 10 sets of 7 of these every-other-day...

  • the closer you go the more the execise focuses on your triceps, so I can only assume the wider you go the more focus on your lats.

  • Same here, but i do weight 95 kilo's, and have long arms.

    Still work in progress...

  • hey um what if u go wider then that?... will that be more beneficial or not? like where u would place your grips on the end of the handles...
