Gott in Himmel!! This man was born to play improvisations. Huge ones like Jean Guillou and Liszt did. You can tell he's been influenced by Jehan Alain and Ton Koopman. You can hear the spirit of Olivier Messaien in this one. The instrument looks like a Cavaille-Coll, but I don't think it is (Its got that C.C. stop spread like the ones at Notre Dame and Ste. Sulpice. I'd surely like to find CDs by Dirk Elsemann.

Much ado about nothing.
Keep this in mind when you hear the next most spectacular improvisation. Much ado and no content. And nothing is easier than making big noise on big organs.

Geschmackssache. Manche schätzen die Barockmusik, weil sie ihre klaren Linien und Formen hat.
Das hier ist eben die Art von Improvisation, wo der Organist den Zuhörer mitreißen will in einem großen Klangschwall.
Ich finde das sehr schön, das hat Elsemann gut hingebracht, und vermutlich war es auch seine Absicht.
Und Ausdruck hat das allemal! Das ist voller Emotion und Leidenschaft - finde ich.
Aber Grauenhaft ist es bestimmt nicht!

Genial !!! Jemand sprach über "brausender Sturm" und sagte sogar das Wort " Plagiat " ..??? Doch ist es beßer zuerst jemandem nachzufolgen, sei es auch den unwiederholbaren Wolfgan Seifen, als niemandem. Einen Personalstil zu entwickeln dauert es eine Zeit. Warum darf man auf diesem Wege keinen Vorbild haben ???
