The African family and reconciliation

In a globalized world, the problems that Africa experiences today are also shared by the rest of the world. Yet it is also imperative that the richness of the African Church be shared by everyone, as Cardinal Péter Erdő, the president of the Council of European Bishops Conferences (CCEE), explained. In many parts of Europe, the word family seems to be politically incorrect. We hope that our African brothers have the courage to keep the idea of the family as something beautiful and integral, as understood by the theology of the family and the Church-Family. Because without the family, where could we find a model for reconciliation?The family plays a crucial role in the promotion of reconciliation, justice and peace throughout the world. However, the bishops also have also seen the importance of the African communities faith with regard to these global problems.Above all, the European bishops hope for light, the light of the African Christians faith, and also the evaluation of their experiences. Because their problems, even though they concern a certain region, are problems that relate to all human beings.A faith that, according to the primate of Hungary, is alive and active in Africa. Faith not only in its abstract and theological dimension, but also a faith that is lived and celebrated. We have heard of the beautiful African liturgies and we also know how often these liturgies take place in many of Africas regions. Yet, there are experiences that unite faith and daily life which are particular to Africa, including some that concern peace issues.
