Bronsini I agree and disagree. Lessons are good for learning the stuff that discourages some beginners. Like you said motivation. I have been playing for like 4-5 years now, and it just blows me away when I learn some music theory then apply it. Just wow. I think its about jamming, just jam and jam and jam with friends and homeless guys on the street and everyone else
I'm assuming that you really want to learn to play guitar. In which, I must say, DONT GET LESSONS. You already have the motivation to learn on your own (studying on your own + motivation = rapid success 100% of the time), No one wants to hear a robot play some boring melody. They want to FEEL the energy coming from your fingers, from your heart. And with this video, there isn't much energy. BUT... there is a lot of potential for you, and I hope you consider my advice, and keep practicing!
Teachers will teach you the most useless things, much like the little tune you're picking out.
It doesn't develop anything, besides the muscle memory for a really non-technical melody. Also, learn to play with your fingers (Thumb, index, middle), (ring finger is optional as it adds a whole new dimension of difficulty) AS WELL AS with a pick. Learn all styles. Learn from others. Look up tabs online. Learn it as best as you can. Keep doing this.
Don't be afraid to truly feel the music. In order to do this successfully and consistently, one must study and be extremely comfortable with types of rhythyms. Once you've got the rhythym in your blood, you can move onto melodies and harmonies. Like I said, QUIT any lessons. You lose all ability to develop your own style and emotion binded with the guitar. Its an instrument of emotion, to be used accordingly.
I can see that the song obviously means a lot to you, but not because of how you're playing. I also realize you seem to learning how to play. The thing is, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" is an amazing song. Now, if you could somehow transfer your emotions into your fingers, and onto the guitar, I would think you would vastly increase your ability and love for playing. Also, stop taking lessons. Self-teach yourself everything. Use Youtube videos, they can teach you anything, and your discretion
