Giants Stadium located in East Rutherford, NJ began the first phase of demolition Feb.4, 2010. At a cost of $10,000,000 dollars the demolition will be complete by July of this year.

As the bulldozer's giant claw ate the stadium's stairwell, I couldn't help but to envision the ghosts of yesteryear. Over the past 34 years Giants Stadium housed 1,600 events with 70 million people walking through it's doors. Aside from the games, rock concerts were performed and the Pope was at Giants Stadium. Now, that's a lot of living.

The new stadium, is completely built. It boasts a seating capacity of 82,500 including 9,500 club seats, 222 of these will be luxury suites.

By the way, the new stadium has yet to be named. Any thoughts on what the new name should be?

  • New name? OK. What about... METLIFE STADIUM!

  • I miss Giants Stadium.

They tore it down and there was nothing wrong with it.

I know the new stadium is beautiful, but come on.

That money could have been spent on other things.

My message to people who do these things (Jerry Jones and others) is:

Help the economy first, then build new stadiums.

  • @tommoore2012 except that's where the nfl gets the $.. the 70,000 fans

  • @klossinator8686 well for one, then it would've been a lot easier to tear it down. Also, they technically don't need a stadium that can seat 70,000 fans. Hell, they could play on a high school field

  • @tommoore2012 then where would they play football???? dumbass

  • should've just blown it up before they started building the new stadium

  • It's now known as MetLife Stadium....I guess they'll call it The Met or The New Met, since its two NY teams that play there, even though its....New Jersey. I'm sorry, It's an awesome stadium, and congrats on getting the first cold weather Super Bowl(stupid move, my opinion)..but if the whole point of the Jets asking for their own digs WITH A ROOF, IN NEW YORK then why did they build it without one, next to the old one and let the Giants move on in?

  • I was 6 when my friends dad was delivering pylons for the construction of the stadium. He used to take us with him. We lived in Lyndhurst. Best concert I saw there years later, Hands down, "The Boss" Kind of sad to see it go since I watched gu up, Then down. Oh Yea almost forgot. GO PATRIOTS, ha ha ha ha

  • Why didnt they just get the airforce to bomb it?

  • @TheWheels777 but the new giants staudium is soo much better tho, or the new meadowland whatever its called.
