Most of the Dutch, including Jews (after all, they're just ordinary people too), were very obedient civilians. So when the Germans *asked* the Jews to come to the train station, many of them did so. And most of the other people where too afraid to be anything else than complicit. Only very few resisted at first. That is the tragedy of what happened.

my grandfather and grandma on my fathers side where also in dutch resistance. they were hiding two jewish men. the youngest jew is still alive and is very grateful towards our family

my uncle was in the dutch resistance he smuggled downed allied pilots jews and wanted people trhough the caves between south holland and belgium were belgium resistance took it over and brought them to france and french brought them to england after the war he joined up the dutch army and fought in east indies were he got malaria he later died from this his name was bear and all my family sed he was a brave strong guy with balls and iron nervs or as we dutch say a koele kikker ( a cool frog)

My grandfather fought in the civilian resistance during the war as an infantryman. He used to always tell stories about what it was like, but is was a long time before he told my father about the things he saw the nazis do.
