Who are we? We are peer learning facilitators and supervisors at Covel Peer Learning Labs at UCLA, the campus's only free student support service open to all undergraduates. We offer free help to students in math/science coursework and writing across the curriculum in a supportive, collaborative environment. We have been a part of the UCLA campus for over twenty years as part of Academics in the Commons (AITC), an initiative intended to provide students living on the Hill with transitional academic guidance.

**On Monday, March 7th, Assistant Vice Provost Penny Hein-Unruh announced our closure for the 2011-2012 academic year in the name of "restructuring" academic support services at UCLA.

What we seek now is your help, UCLA students, UCLA professors, UCLA parents, and any advocate for equal academic opportunity at UCLA. It is up to you to remind UCLA of its responsibility to provide its students with academic support. What we provide at Covel may be optional for our undergraduates, but students should have the ability to access support when they need it -- without pay.
