Voting is Closed!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for my idea to build a playground for Attawapiskat Ontario. Voting closed last night and the finalists will be announced today at noon. Unless something crazy happens, it looks like we'll get the grant money to build the playground. YAY!

When I visited Attawapiskat this past spring, I was pretty upset that my new friends have never had a playground or sports field or skatepark. Where I live, I can walk to a park or a public pool or splashpad or a skatepark. It doesn't seem fair that there are some kids in Canada that can't.

So - Yay! for Attawapiskat and all your help in voting. You're awesome. But - there are a lot of other places in Canada without playgrounds too. My dad is talking to some other northern reserves and communities to see where the next one should be. If you have any ideas, please comment here or email info@truenorthaid.ca .

Apparently the Chief and Band Council have Hundreds of thousands of dollars being borrowed to band members for personal use. It is no wonder playgrounds haven't been built prior to this.
