That's really interesting to see. Those people knew the real Jim Morrison. What Oliver Stone created is a fiction character.

He seemed to accept what Jim did fairly well, despite their differences, and ages....

It was nice hearing about Jim Morrison from his sister and Dad.

The point is that the image of Jim that we have become familiar with is largely manufactured. Some of the elements of the image are real, but others are clearly not. He was just not this violent abuser of women; he'd never lock his girlfriend in a closet & set the house on fire. Fiction. Those people who went out the back door probably just weren't up to tolerating a drunk, or maybe they just didn't like him, but I still think he was a more real, genuine person, who was well worth knowing.

I need to point out that I have not met most of these people, &cannot substantiate that they were fond of Jim--but they were. The only Hollywood people I have ever met, besides Jim, were a girl who I went to school with who became an actress, & James Bridges. Some of the information came through him, & other things came from being told by another friend, who was speaking more from a position of authority about it than I can muster. There's some evidence for these people liking him, but not proof.

One reason these different people, who he met mostly as a film student, liked him, was because they could see the sweet, funny, kind, passionate boy, who wanted from the time he was about 4 to be a screenwriter & make movies! They also saw the deeply sensitive romantic, &the big-hearted forgiving friend. The Doors was a detour for Jim, as he explains in some of his interviews. He was a talented, wonderful screenwriter, with a gift for comedy (!), & he just wanted to get back to his original course.
