We work more than ever (in order to acquire more and more gadgets), if we are lucky enough to get work, and if not, we spend our time looking for work and worrying about the future for us and our families.

There go another few hundred thousand (millions?) jobs as cab drivers. These people will not be able to retrain to get jobs as high tech engineers and computer programmers, even if their life depends on it. Originally, the idea was that we invent all these machines and technology to free us of mundane, boring, mind-numbing tedious toil and labor in order to spend more time having fun, leisure and enriching our souls with uplifting ideas and activities. But it didn't turn out that way, did it?
