@happyjellyfish Yes that was Shapashnikova, sitting on the floor looking Dishevelled? She was one of my all time favorites.

@turneniscool Dit is geen marteling, dit is hard werk van de Sovjets. In Nederland zijn ze dit soort hard werken niet gewend, dus lijkt het op marteling.

Who is the sad gymnast at 1:30? She looks a tiny bit like Shaposhnikova but I can't tell. :/

@kevin123verstappen (i know this is an old comment but still) i think they were meaning why was the bar THIN, like did it make it easier or not. NOT why they used it

Which move was it that caused the most injuries back then on bars? Was it the one where they hit the bar with their stomach? Or those big releases like the one Olga Korbutt did first when she stood on the top bar and then somersaulted to catch?

I would have loved this type of training as a kid! I suppose some girls don't enjoy it if they are forced though, and that is sad.
