Fire and Water is one of the most basic of all Active Qigong exercises. It is easy to learn, easy to do and very relaxing. Inhale on the rise of hands and body. Exhale on the sink of hands and body. Focus on breathing and stretching to maximize the benefits of this wonderful T'ai Chi exercise.

  • @xirishmagicx Thank you that is very helpful. Now I wonder how do you know you are meditating 'correctly' and how do you know your yin, yang, or what have you, is full? I must be doing something incorrectly. Sometimes when I meditate I feel energy but other times I feel tired and fall asleep and wake up several times. In other words I will be meditating, fall asleep, realize I fell asleep, then fall asleep again, and wake up again, two or three times.

  • What position are you in during meditation? Standing, rowing, walking, sitting, lying down? T'ai Chi meditation is focused and engaged internal and external stretching for the purpose of building and expressing energy. What are your thoughts about during meditation?

  • Why you don t move your elbows up with your hands - you will get better results if you do

  • Because of Three Lows - Elbows low, Shoulders low, Chi low. Chinese Five Word Song

  • @wetlazer I saw the video and checked out both books that were written about John Chang. He says that the perineum is where yin energy flows into the body and the dantien is where yang energy flows. When you reach the point, through meditation, where your dantien is full of yang energy. . . You send the dantien below to meet the yin energy. When they join they rise side by side right below the navel. Then you merge them together and when you do, you create the classic yin yang symbol. Then power

  • Is the perineum different than the dantien (sp?)? Just saw a video where a qiqong master tried to have his chi measured with a voltmeter and it was connected to his perineum. Are there exercises for that energy center? I am not being a smarty pants. One of the videos I am talking about is called 'Qigong Demo with Master "John Chang"'

  • @markmcgee4 This is not from Qigong - mybe fom Kung Fu or Tai Chi.

Qi low: yes - shoulders low: yes - But when you raise your hands up is s better to raise your ellbows with because of your breathing.

  • the palms are a major chi resepter. and the souls of ur feet.

  • you can also use your face in this excercise, when you inhale open your eyes a little wider and raise your eyebrows and keep your mouth neutral. When you exhale you half-close your eyes, relax you eyebrows and wear a faint smile on your lips. All in a relaxed manner of course. No tension, no pushing, frowning, panting or anything. Breathe from the diaphragm with your nose, tip of the tounge in the palate behind your front teeth.
