The Institute of HeartMath (http://www.heartmath.org) shares fascinating understandings of the human heart as explored in more than 20 years of its research. The 'Did you know' facts are lesser-known gems of information to enlighten curiosity on how your own thoughts and emotions are affecting yourself and others.

HeartMath Research Director Rollin McCraty, Ph.D., says, "It's important to take a pause and really consider what our emotions are contributing to our environment and to other people. Our research and its applications can help people create a positive emotion-based environment that has real effects on physiology."

McCraty said that the true nature of human emotion is one of care and love. He said HeartMath and other research shows that by focusing on these core heart-felt emotions, it can enhance one's connection with others, and that this connection extends far beyond the individual.

Thank you everyone for your respectful conversation and comments. We have a research library on our website, which notes peer-reviewed and independent research: heartmath (dot org) /research/research-library/research-library.html. This research might be of interest for many of you. The human heart is a fascinating area of research and we, along with other independent researchers and institutions, are uncovering some fascinating findings.

Mind - Consciousness - Devil - Ego - Greed, Money, Selfish - Life is a illusion

Heart - Subconscious - God - True self - Love, Creative, Infinite being - Dreams come true

Life is about learning to combine the two together, the mind and heart

The conscious being of a individual (your unique character and personality) and the heart, the infinite love from god and through god anything is possible

People need to drop there ego's and fear, life is about love and freedom

    God bless you all

I feel compelled to also mention that a fact is simply data. We first begin with a hypothesis that is falsifiable in order to test our hypothesis. The accumulation of facts amount empirical data that can be used to form a theory. Any theory must be innately falsifiable when confronted with sufficient data to disprove it. This entire process is science (at a very basic level). When you skip steps or make assumptions that cannot be proven wrong, its not, by definition, science.

I agree with you. My biggest disagreement comes from their use of the scientific method only when it suits them. They do indeed use science for some aspects of this, but they quickly devolve into pseudoscience. Its making claims not based in fact, but instead on assumptions; which in and of itself does drive science, but when your claims are ultimately unfalsifiable you are moving out of the scientific arena and into pseudoscience. Science requires rigorous standards of evidence; HMI skips this

The Wright's brothers owed a debt of gratitude to all the thought and ideas of every subject that lead to their opportunity to fly. The current thinkers in Heart Math cannot be looped in with the past 2000 years of failure to provide hard scientific evidence. They are just men today who are seeking after a wondering of their heart, just like the Wright Brothers did.

I think it would be awesome if the Heart Math institute could provide hard evidence to support their claims. I would be a groundbreaking moment in the understanding of our physiology. The fact is, these claims started with old ancient myths when people actually thought consciousness resided in the heart. For well over 2000 years this myth has survived in some form. At least the Wright brothers succeeded in their lifetime.
