PLEASE READ:

This video have the only purpose to highlight the magnificent participation of Ian Bairnson on The Alan Parsons Project.
Ian is one of the best guitarists of all time, in studio and live, so no matter what the ranking really is, it's just an excuse to enjoy some of their best performance.
Ian Bairnson has been unjustly forgotten for many generations, but it is surely, with David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Paco de Lucía and some others, one of the most "aesthetic" guitar of all time.

Before you make your own particular rank in the comments, consider the following:

This ranking is based on my personal preferences, some other fans and some musicians too, and is not intended to be official, you do not have to agree with us.

Remember: we are NOT choosing the best songs, just the performance.

The ranking was done based on the notes complexity, level, duration, tone changes, and finally his aesthetics.

Some songs need to be played entirely to apreciate Ian's performance, like "Too late" or "Freudiana", where Ian perform Woolfson's choir with his own guitar (one of the few times in my life where I heard a really talk guitar) so, before you desagree, the best you can do is listen and analyze the entirely song.

I hope you enjoy and do not forget your comments.

  • Thanks for the video, but my Bairnson top favs would be very different. No Eye in the Sky?!!! That's a brilliant solo.

I'd also choose, Prime Time, Don't Talk About Me, Snake Eyes, and Frediana

  • @da5idnz EitS it's one of my favorites too, but a little short, remember this rank is just an excuse to enjoy Ian's works, in fact, all solos must be included.

Thank you so much for your comment friend!

  • Cuántos bellos recuerdos !!! ... y presentes; ya sabes, desde que conocí esta banda me ha acompañado siempre...

  • @opiumivresse Son esos "compañeros" de la vida que nunca conocimos pero consideramos parte de uno.

  • as far as dissagreeing with any rank i won't its all wonderful but one solo i think is complex is on sterotomy- boujolais

  • @imalaffer Boujalais is a great song too, I second that.

  • Prime time es un obligado en esta lista, sin embargo estoy de acuerdo en el primer puesto.

  • I've always felt that Ian does not play solos, he crafts a song within a song.

  • @sisterdebmac You are TOTALLY right, we try to make justice for Ian in this clips.

  • I love you for doing this and we share some favorites. But of course everyone has their own. I really respect that you have Freudiana in there. The best thing is that you got people talking about what an overlooked GENIUS Ian Bairnson truly is. People think they remember Parsons songs because of the keyboards, but they're wrong. It's those incredible basslines and BAIRNSON!
