Brilliant display at dusk of thousands and thousands of starlings preparing to roost for the night. The sound heard is not solely motorway traffic but the noise generated by so many birds. At times a humming sound can be heard also. Newspaper reports for this year estimated over 1.5 million birds gathered at the height of the display season due to the extra cold winters abroad. The whole display happens for about 45 mins. This was taken at Gretna Services on the motorway bridge March 17th 2008 starting at approx 6.30pm.
