It's an interesting clip, but half the moves of the "High Line Slash" defense are unnecessary. The fact that you're making him stab himself is enough; it would sink into his liver and he would bleed out in about a minute or so. However, the gun defense shown is quite informative and would easily find a place of use in real world situations.

Then again, the problem with most criminals is that they are fear/greed driven and really have no clue how to fight. Most people really will come down with a knife or hold a gun like an idiot. A straight out liver jab with a knife is a bit harder to catch.

I will give Mr Cheatham credit for reminding people that when you employ gun defenses that you can expect the weapon to fire. This is very important because if you are startled, you will hesitate. Then you will die.

Done properly, the initial elbow strike to his elbow will cause him to drop the blade.
