Looks nice and cool there. Wonder if you have an idea on how long it takes to ride a scooter from taichung to taroko. Any idea? Cause i have been planning to drive down there for a while now.
From Taichung you would go to Puli first, because road No.8 is closed. This might be about 50km, maybe 1~2 hours riding. From Puli take No.14 up to Hehuanshan at 3275m altitude, maybe another 2 hours riding (depending on how many photo-breaks you take). From there it goes down to Dayuling, then No.8 down to Taroko, maybe 3~4 hours. I think in total, on a scooter, if you take it easy, about 8 hours riding incl. some breaks for photos and snacks. But it's worth it! To Hualien it's only 30min then.
Lost me there a bit. Did you mean we should be able to reach taroko in 2 hours from Puli if wew don't stop? Thanks for the info BTW! I think as long as it's less than 10 hours, we can easily handle it so it doesn't really matter, hehehe! Thanks again! Ciao!
From Puli maybe closer to 6 hours (2 hours uphill, then about 4 hours down to the Taroko Gorge entrance gate). A phantastic ride, if weather and traffic conditions are OK!
Going there (or anywhere else in Taiwan) by bike/scooter is the best way! By bus/coach/car you just miss something... can't describe it... you have to feel it!
