A heavily modified version of the myth of Leir, told via black and white drawings.

King Leir decides to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters. The two older daughters, Regan and Goneril, elaborately declare their love for their father, even though they do not love him. Cordelia, the youngest, truly loves her father but cannot express her love the way her sisters falsely expressed theirs. Leir is angered and banishes Cordelia, then divides the kingdom between Regan and Goneril.

When Leir is caught outside in a storm, neither Regan nor Goneril will give him shelter, but Cordelia braves the storm to find her father. The father and daughter reconcile just before Leir dies of exposure.

In the original myth, Leir lives, and he and Cordelia reclaim the throne from Regan and Goneril.

In William Shakespeare's version, Regan and Goneril kill each other, and Lear and Cordelia both die at the end of the play. It is somewhat more depressing.
