They give you some protection. Every time I have gotten a dental xray they cover me with a radiation proof vest/cover that goes over my body.

yes they leave the room just like dan put on the vest. you dont.

When you get an x ray they stand behind a metal sheild but you dont get any protection as your only exposed once.
