Yep, subs do that....

We submerged it in an apartment complex lake years ago and fired one off near a bunch of drunken frat guys who were keeping the whole neighborhood awake. It rocketed over the frat house & popped in the back seat of a convertible with the roof down (no damage of course). The words "Holy Shit! What was that?!?" could be heard echoing the apt complex.

@WildBillK54 I know this is easier said than done, but a couple of tines in the exhaust would solve that, give the rockets some spin

It would've been funny if one of those missiles pegged someone in the head XD

@privatepinkbits Sounds good! Bring me an aircraft carrier, I love targets!

@WildBillK54 the ulitmate fish finder + missiles dont let me cross your path mate, or i'll demand to be your new best mate

@privatepinkbits I like it! Maybe I could make the hooks look like a towed sonar array!
The rockets were ineffective. They scared one bird, but missed their target, if they even had one.
Wouldn't it be more fun to cover the conning tower and antenna with a shark fin? That would scare people too not just birds.

@kozmon0t Yep, the rockets need fins. Just no place to put them inside a 3/4" diameter tube.

@WildBillK54 Actually I've got a buddy who has a rapid prototyping machine. We molded a plastic set of ducts for the estes rocket and tried vectoring the thrust to induce a spin on the motor. We tried it inside of a plastic shield with a video camera but the smoke fogged up the tube so we don't know if it spun the rocket or not. The ducts were fubarred of course after the shot but it sure smoked like hell!

what scale is the sub. did you scratch build it or is it a kit?

@tacticalking161 It's no particular scale. It was entirely scratch built and evolved as a "test bed" for ideas. It actually started out as a 10" long balsa-wood boat and evolved into this over a period of several years. Think of it as like the "Albacore" in that its whole reason for being was for testing out ideas. It got a little out of hand....
