anyone else feel like this is in real time? lol

As long as there are photography buffs and plant nerds in the world, a video like this will never get zero views. :D They remind me of cobras. Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking of getting the latest powershot camera and using CHDK on it for time lapses but I eventually opted for an upper entry level DSLR with built in intervalometer and much better overall picture quality and performance, such as the Nikon D5100.

I was thinking o getting a Powershot and using CHDK but I eventually changed my mind in favour of an upper entry level DSLR with a built in intervalometer that also has much superior quality overall, such as the D5100.

how long did it really take, like how many days?

OMG i never watched things growing like that. looked like they've got lives^^ (i know they have but it looked like they have a brain)
awsome timelapse!

how do you do that amazing dof ? with chdk?

Interesting! Tricky getting focus that close up... telemacro seems to help (Canon 5S-is) but you can't get quite as close. :-)

how long did it take? its very cool. shallow dof provides a nice effect :)
Epic timelapse :)
Poor crop :(

That was the lighting - in order to keep it as uniform as possible I was using a standard desk lamp with a low-energy bulb, and I don't think it had enough UV for the seeds to germinate.

I'd have locked down the focus aperture and ISO, but allowed the camera to choose the exposure time. Probably not possible without something like CHDK though.

There's actually an example intervalometer script on the CHDK wiki that does lock down everything bar exposure, but in this case everything is auto. With hindsight what I'd have probably done is use natural daylight with a desk lamp as a fill to smooth the lighting changes and with everything bar exposure locked down. Or, just used a better tripod so I could get the camera further away!
