This video is a follow up to my posting on the web site lincolnsonline.com . The repair was I changed my air conditioning compressor, I initially thought I could just charge the system without vacuuming the lines. I did and because of air in the system it did not work well. I purchased a vacuum pump and charged the system as you will see in this video. According to information from lincolnsonline.com the system should hold 34 oz of 134a. That is how much I added however it appears to act like it may want more. Can someone out there double check the amount of 134a a 1995 Lincoln Town Car air conditioning system holds.
Thank Tim at lincolnsonline for your help and giving me confidence to tackle this job.

  • ok this guy did ok in what he did but he didnt do everythinghe should of done pressurized the system with nitrogen and left it for 24 hrs in standing pressure to see if it has a leak, he should of conected both hoses, the hi and low, the should of vaccumed both sides after seeing that there are no leaks, put it in a vacumm for an hr or more and use a micron guage. he shhould of charged the liquid in first and so on but he shows u an idea, i wouldnt let him touch my car lol just sayin

  • THATS A VERY NOISY PUMP LOL the rugular good JB pumps are quiet but there used in AC units in residential and commercial

  • I do my own maintenance, but you overpaid for that pump. Not everything on eBay is a good deal.

  • @aegisforex you just dont get it. i bet you pay someone to change your air filter too.

  • For what you paid for the vacuum pump, you could have paid a mechanic to vac and charge it.

  • moisture is the number 1 enemy of ac systems. evac for 30 mins or so, maintain the vacuum. DO NOT crack open the valves like was done in the video here...you are letting in outside air, which INCLUDES moisture..... and, never ever open up the HIGH side port, ever, when servicing like this. Otherwise, my only other suggestion is really to get an good grasp on what the manifold gauges are telling you...high and low side. Very dangerous. Lucky it seems to have worked, but kudos for posting....

  • A couple of things, here....not that i'm a goo roo or anything, but was a prof mechanic in AZ for a number of years, where it's HOT!

-first, the entire 'purpose' of using a vacuum pump is to pull 'negative pressure' (oxy moron, I know)...but the real purpose of that is that during those many minutes of pulling vacuum, the molecules of air in your system are being broken down, and the moisture is being evacuated OUT of the system, so maintaining a vacuum is super important.

  • you sound like Jeff Bridges

  • DO they rent out the vacum pumps? just need to vacum my car for a one time deal, dont really want to buy one.

  • HI i was wanting to know if you could answer me a question ,i have just bought ,a "diavia" air con kit ,for my1991 vw jetta ,it was a factory option back in the day ,as this kit is brand new old stock that was meant to be filled with the now defunct r12 ,is there anything i would need to do to this to make it compatible with the r134 ,up until a couple of days ago ,i knew nothing about air con,so any help you could give me would be much appreciated ,thanks ....kevin
