The berlingo and partner are pretty much the same...
Maybe you got the wrong engine?
At first, the berlingo and partner came with the XUD9 1.9 diesel engine, but later they changed it to the sucky DW8 1.9 diesel like the guy in this video has...

that's not a broken engine, it's just a injector leak!!!

Im not sure what you're trying to say here, but something about valves and head? Well, the head was broken, and was not worth fixing\replacing so engine got scrapped and replaced with a working used one. Valves\timing were never touched, but could actually be one of the problems when I think about it...

Sounds a tad rough! i just put a berlingo engine into a partner and i couldnt believe the amount of things i had to change from one engine to the other! i thought they were exactly the same

So the partner and the berlingo engines are NOT the same? Theese cars are about identical on the outside! (and inside).
I got some more info, the ECU might have an error, since it has some problems during acceleration (max or no throttle, nothing between)[4000USD to fix]. Catalytic converter is broken [1000USD], new head [unknow prize], new airbags (give an error code, might be the ECU). It is still driveble (!), it has to be :P
