  • We are all animals.

  • bonobos for the most part are not agressive like chimps..and we are so shocked the chimp attacked someone....humans have done the same and do things like that on a daily basis..thing is you can read a human better then a chimp

  • Language is overrated.

  • They could even teach dogs most of those things (if it werent for their less developed "arms").

So how can this be suprising to anyone about the animal most closely related to humans...?

  • uh... MORE PLEASE

  • Hmmmm..... Chimps cant be trained to dive under water? But yet some macaques ( monkey) do swim and hold their breath under water, I have even seen an orangutan that does the same.

  • @Frankwolf100 As for separating males from females, I don't think the zoos have a choice, there's no space for females to "escape" or roam from the males as they would in the wild, so maybe separating is a form of that. The males also have no space to run around and "vent" their displays. Chimps don't belong in zoos, personally....

  • @Frankwolf100 you are absolutely correct. Having studied great ape behaviour and visited Gombe, African & US sanctuaries - I'm just sad as to the current state of things in general. Not only for chimps, but all the great apes. The zoos need to sell tickets and to do that the chimps have to interact with the visitors (look at all the youtubes). The sanctuaries "try" to de-humanize them...I don't know.

  • @UrbaneGent I meant to say I don't agree with breeding chimps in zoos, not cause I don't wanna see them breed, I just don't like how they are so humanized in zoos. I even saw some zoos separate males when they become too agressive and start fighting for leadership, that's what they do in the wild and it's seen as a bad thing in zoos.

  • @UrbaneGent I agree with what you say big time, In all the documentaries I saw when the chimps are in the wild they are good physical shape. Then when I see these chimps in captivity like sanctuaries and ZOOS they're overweight like a human. I believe it's because of high sugar snacks, hell I seen a video of chimps having b-day parties thrown for them at sacremento zoo, I think that's stupid and I don't agree with breeding the chimps being allowed in zoos.

  • @Stonewallboy yeah, that's true ;-) so silly humans should be 'above' the other animals, many animals are intelligent, like for example dolphins as well...

  • I wish they would open their own restaurant and make some money.
