Sheer lyrical brilliance. The lead vocals are somewhat underwhelming but inexplicably compelling, much like most of The Clash's London Calling.

Totally agree that Columbia flubbed the marketing on this. Should have been at least Gold. Heck that said, Cultosaurus, Rev by Night, Imaginos, Heaven Forbid and Curse of the Hidden Mirror are all robbed of the deserved Gold status cert. I blame radio and MTV for overglamoring the sellout bands of the 80s, glorifying popularity and ignoring talent. BOC had more talent than all but 4 bands of their era.
