Who told u that, dont tell me its urdu - islam, lol. In India ppl technically are thought two languages (even three in top-schools) i.e. mumbai u r taught hindi, marati (and english in top-schools). Nelly sang it but i wouldnt exactly say good, but kudos to her.

i admire those who attempt to sing in a laguage they don't even speak...when I was in the chigh school chorus, some of my classmates were so adament against sing Mendelsohn hymns in German. I thought hey were a bunch of cowards.
I get kudos all the time in karaoke events when I sing the German version of 99 Luftballons or Luis Miguels' renditon of Cuando Calienta El Sol

so what if Hindi is not her mothertongue? She sings it good. And hindi is not necessary Lata's mothertongue either.
BTW in karaoke bars, my signature song is 99 Luftballons, and German is not my mothertongue.

Haters suck. How many of the people slamming Nelly can sing at all. Lata is brilliant, but she is old and her voice shows it.

yes indeed.. respect to her for stepping out of her comfort zone and showing respect to indian music.. someone once said "imitation is the highest form of flattery" - esp if it's sincere..

It is said "imitation is a form of flattery" very nice that Nelly tried. How many other western artist try to sing in Hindi? What has happened to people lately all the comparing!? You can not watch a video without reading so and so is BETTER than this or she is no so and so. WHY?
When did we stop appreciating people for who they are? Who THEY are, PERIOD. Without comparing, there is room for endless artist! Each human being is a unique individual, embrace it!!

she actually sang it pretty good..give her props man. she probably practiced like crazy for this concert..not many american artists can pull off an indian song like she did..
