@ArsenalSPT No, they had a positive void coefficient, so when there are voids (steam) the reactor will go out of control.

The reactors were of the RBMK-1000 type reactors. They had a high negative void coefficient which is very bad where nuclear reactors are concerned.
I don't know the specifics, just that it's bad...
