Backspin is BACK!! Thank You Sirius/XM - Backspin & Strobe live on ...

Well, after incessant calls and emails to Sirius (from me and many others!), I guess they finally got the message. You can't kill hip hop! lol

As cited in the press release, it is due to the listeners who voiced their disdain about a new channel lineup that DID NOT include a classic hip hop station that they HAD to bring Backspin out of retirement.

Here is the direct quote from Scott Greenstein who I was told was the director of Urban Programming:
"Bringing back The Strobe and Backspin, and adding The Beat Morning Show, is part of our commitment to respond to our subscribers' overwhelming passion for our service," said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SIRIUS XM Radio. "We are fortunate to have an enthusiastic audience that embraces satellite radio with unprecedented fervor. We will continue to listen to them as we strive to create the best audio entertainment experience available."

Yes, my enthusiasm has been renewed because they decided to give the paying audience what we need - by bringing back Backspin - and acted accordingly!

I think they did this because , they didn't want to lose there only income (their customers)

if they drop another channel that everybody likes then lets all call and Complain 24/7 a day till they are tired and bring it back!!!

Though I'm not a fan of what they play on Strobe and Backspin, I'm happy for you.

But what they did to the Blues channel is criminal.

I did complain several times to no avail.

Please bring back Sirius Blues 74.

I think we were only successful because we CALLED and WROTE EVERY DAY. I was going to KEEP calling and writing until they put it on. Be persistent - they can't ignore you forever!  Good luck!

Its the only reason I ever had satellite radio. I've had both XM and Sirius and they were on different stations. 37 on Sirius and 65 on XM. Do both channels exist or is it all one now? I have XM and 65 Baxkspin is in.

EXACTLY! I can hear pop and rock all day long! I like the - dare I say - oldies! Old Skool Hip hop, Adam Ant, Missing Persons, The Clash, The Cars, Psychedelic furs, Madhouse, etc! Can't hear THAT on free radio!

It is funny how music can transport you back into time, isn't it?!
