Metroid NES 100% Walkthrough Part 6

This video is tool assisted but is not meant to be viewed as a perfectly optimized professional piece of work specialized for the fastest 100% completion.

Game completion is 51 minutes, for which I spent about a week working on, frame by frame, savestate by savestate.

There are a few shortcuts that I used during the making of this run, a few examples being the energy tank after Kraid, which is extremely hard but not impossible (as shown) without the high jump boot, some double/triple/many bomb jump used rather than "The long way around."

This run is meant for the newest of noobs to the seasoned veterans of the game. If you are looking for the fastest completion of the game (7 minutes and something) please check tasvideos.org

I would like to thank Martucus for his textual walkthough/speed guide, which I actually used during my first non-TAS completion of metroid.

I cant freeze the metroids, I have the wave beam, am I screwed or can I get the ice beam back? Cause I cant even make it to the last boss, metroids destroy me instantly

@JBOTTSIOWA You need to freeze beam to freeze them. The wave beam does next to nothing.

That trick where you unroll and freeze the metroids just as they grab you...are you able to do that playing normal speed? I'm just wondering if it might be worth putting in the time to learn it so I can wow my friends.

@Sh1ntoe It usually works while falling since the position of the metroid is a little laggy so it is easy to be caught then released. Anything is possible at normal speed :)

i've only ever beated both the mini bosses once but i was never good enough to get past the metroid, its so sad x.x

plus it sucks that every time you die, you only respawn with 30 hp, i hate the makers but i love the game, messed up stuff there

@TheKairon999 I agree about the starting health. The game should give you at least a full tank. I don't even want to know how many people developed anxiety problems while just trying to beat mother brain.

i would like to see all the little kids that kick my ass in modern warfare come try to beat this game. they think they are so good at ps3 but pry wouldnt even try to beat this

@TNATNA100 Here's a tip: You can try to craft your own map as you go through the game. Include doors and you'll be able to see what you've missed in a glance.

@TheSuperMegaUltraMan I put in some code for the ice beam and it gave me some super ice beam thats not in the regular game, weird

@JBOTTSIOWA I think you can head back to the place where youfirst got your Ice Beam, or the place closest to you anyway, cause there's two of them, and it will be back on the Chozo Statue and you can switch.

That bomb wasn't too efective, you have to go back to do the same thing on Super Metroid

@JBOTTSIOWA You can go back and get the ice beam in the same area you got it last time. Whenever you change beams, you have to go to that spot again to get it back.
