In 1989 The Milton Keynes Knights moved from the old Groveway Stadium to the new Purpose Build Elfield Park Raceway. This video charts the building of the track.
Hey dirt1jumper i think the track you are talking about used to be behind the mk bowl. I used to go there alot back in the day.Sadly it is no longer there as the land has been turned over waiting to be built on. Shame it used to be a good place to ride.
hi guy's just saw this vid and was wondering if you could help me.
quite a few years back i went to a old speedway track in or near milton keynes that seemed to be abandened there was quite high sides with a jump going up part of it in the center was of course a ovral track also there was a track over the back of this one in the figur of 8. if you can help me to find out where this is and if it's still about it was in the late 1990's maybe 2000
I worked at Groveway with the Jarvis family and I remember clearly Ted being given notice during their last summer to get out of Groveway. That same notice was handed to Terry Cheney who refused to accept it hoping he would be allowed to continue despite the whole stadium being flattened ready for a planned home building excercise. That is why Cheney was still not starting work at Elfield and only at the last minute did he push Barker out to take over with his consortium.
And now look at Elfield Park, The same state as it was at the start of this Video, And No Dog Track either in MK, Pathetic State of affairs in Milton Keynes, And what do we get in return, MK Dons !! The Sooner they go back to London the better !!
