My 1/64 scale model of the H.M.C.S Iroquois modeled the same as I saw it when it visited Kingston Ontario in the mid 70's. The Model is all hand made (97%) as a 1/64 scale is not a common scale in model boats. I've been working on her for the past 9 years and there's plenty still to do (doors, hatches, and other small stuff. She has a wooden hull fiberglased and the rest is metal and plastic that i've collected over the years. This year I hope to get her in the water again since the Canadian Navy is 100 years old this year.
I have video of her running and will soon have it on line, hoping everyone will be looking forward to it.
Canadian Navy Happy 100TH!!!
Thanks for watching.

  • Superb job on Iroquois Mike. The way I mostly remember her. The tribals lost their uniqueness after TRUMP, but became a better fighting platform.. For a second when you were flying over the Rabbit ear funnels, I thought i was back on a bosun's chair welding cracks in the linings of the uptakes. Two welders on a bosun's chair lowered by a Rigger. One welding with TIG, while the other ran the foot pedal and radio for up and down. The linings were perforated stainless sheetings.

Thanks for the comments, I too prefer her in original configure. The bunny funnels did give her character and when she was in Kingston, Ontario for a good will tour I actually drove my 12 footer right beside her.

I do hope video gave you good memories.

  • I work on her :)

  • @Doofy36

    Nice

    I'm sure she's a little different now.

  • have you ever had it in the water or it a shelf queen? I've built the Huron to be a daily driver if I want...Did you build it yourself or did you purchase it from someone out there? If you ever plan on selling her, I hope you will consider my name , I spent some time on this class of ship in the Navy.

Being 1/64 scale at 7 plus feet it takes a little bit of planning to get her to the water, dogs do take up room in truck.

As for the selling well it's not in the near future, I'd actually got real close to her when she did a port call in Kingston.

Looking forward to seeing yours in the water, and any help or info you need just give a shout.

She has been in the water but not lately, got footage of her running but finding it hard to get the footage off of VHS, working on it.

I got the hull from a club member and did a major refit from keel up, a very long on going job but the joy is well worth it. As you know always little things to add and rework.

As for her in the water she runs oh so nice, was very surprised when she was running, very stable concidering I thought she might be top heavy with the mast being all brass
