  • Wow... as a member of this band, i can only thank whoever made this video... very revealing... I did, at some times, wince in pain at the bad step-offs and weird way the drill was performed. But overall, so many more things could have gone wrong... from what other people told me, no other band had a show as unique, musically challenging or brain-freezingly complicated drill as ours

  • Hi, I graduated from MV in 2003 and have been shooting video for the band nearly every season since. I'm one of the people that provides footage to whoever does the end-of-year DVD from season to season. MV has always done really tough drill & music, which is why Cupertino usually doesn't net as many awards.

I'm posting Homestead's show soon, and you can see for yourself what they do well, but also that their drill is a lot of straight lines and angles, not as many arcs or abstract shapes.

  • not focused on the whole band, just parts, misses awesome stuff (ripple)

  • Yeah, I noticed that too. Since my footage is often used in the end-of-year DVDs, I try to get shots of both the whole band and of individual members. Next time I intend to get different shots than in this one, and then after that I'll get even more alternate shots.

Rome wasn't built in a day, you know =)

  • Ian, thank you for taking this footage; I'm looking forward to seeing everything else you have that we get to use for the DVD.

  • No problem =) It was an awesome surprise when Robin gave me a pass to go up to the video platform right next to the box. I was expecting to be shooting from the track like usual.

When the season's over I'll be sure to get the footage I have to you guys. Keep perfecting the show, it's a tough one, for sure...

  • This is by far one of my favorite shows. I'm sorry Lodi got rained out. I was looking forward to seeing this thing through.

  • I'm amazed that none of the videos that were taken of us at this compatition captured me falling, cause at one of the touch and go's my foot sliped and I ended up taking a knee but thank goodness I recoverd quickly or that might have been some serious deductions from our score. Go Baritones!!!!!!!!!

  • It's interesting how this show is, in its own way, a rising up of the field show bar for the Spartan Marching Band. I've seen you guys since "The Elements" but keeping close tabs since "Midnight in Transylvania"...who would have thought you guys are achieving what you are this season?! Percussion has also come a LONG WAYS.

As you already know, lots of details to clean up. Many commendations for the ways you are challenging yourselves...also really appreciate Abram's Pursuit @ Masque. :D

  • at least the duck left the field before our show! :D

  • Thanks! :D

we've still got a lot to work on...like diagonals and some of the follow the leaders >_>... but I have to say I'm really really satisfied with how this show's going!!
