How sad that Columbus and other European conquerers ruined the New World Paradise by murdering and enslaving the indigenous Native American peoples, instead of reuniting with them as beloved brothers and sisters! If only the European peoples had the humility to learn from the spiritual wisdom of the Native American peoples and thereby blend the best elements of both cultures....! Now, in the magical year 2012, is the time to restore the intended paradise of love on a higher level than before...

Hello. I have looked at the map over and over and I can't understand how can a person say that north america and south america aren't one same continent! Columbus and his people only "discovered" a single continent... That's why for the Olympics there are 5 arrows and 1 of those arrows represents the continent of America. To say that South America is a continent is like saying that western Europe is a continent..

@feurzauber * San Salvador,an Island is what he,Columbus discovered.Then went home.Vespucci discovered the Mainland,he was headed for South America,totally missed it,and hit North America.He signed his map,on the bottom right.When the Map Maker made a larger Map,he saw the name and Named the land Americus after him.Later changed to the accepted feminine form of America.

@campeon222 *Columbus discovered San Salvador it is an Island,off the coast of South America.Then he went home.A Continent is a large land mass.North and South America,are two Continents.Now the Panama Canal,cuts them in half.He later discovered the mainland of South America.Look at that map again.And look up Continent also.
