The beeping siren you hear is the radiation meter on danger level approx 1 mile from Reactor 4. It was approximately 10 times normal radiation levels at this range and got much higher at the reactor and on the north side and town of Pripyat. Definately an experience to finally see the reactor for myself, something I will never forget. For a full review of my trip to Chernobyl, Ukraine and Belarus then check out :

I hear that device?? How it's called.
It starts when a large amount of radiation is in the area.
There should be around 2.000 mikrons
How the hell did they let u there man?

Its called a Dosimeter. They only let people in there on escorted tours so they can monitor how long you are in the exclusion zone. They class 8 hours as 'safe' . Im not sure about the scale mikrons you used, but normal radiation is around 0.04 and right next to the reactor it was up to about 0.8 (yes 0.8) so around 20 times normal levels. It was even higher in Pripyat town which is 1-2 miles north of the reactor. It is a scary place and i did have mild radiation sickness for about 1 month

it was an amazing place to go to see. i think im a bit insane to have gone as close as i did to the sarcophagus as its so dangerous. i think going inside (which some workers still do to monitor the decaying state of the shelter) would be insane!! The whole exclusion zone is a very dangerous place to be but you dont realise till after you have been there. If you have any health problems then its not advisable to go there at all
