I remember this performance - was watching totp with my mum. She loved it, I said it was awful, but actually went out and bought t a week or so later because I was a fickle 13yo!
My friends mum said his real accent must be very posh cos he was doing this whiney southern working class but she was wrong - Graham Fellows aka John Shuttleworth is a Yorkshireman.
It was around for AGES I remember.

I'm a teenager of today. Let me tell you, my generation cares about absaloutley nothing and has fuck all achievement to it's name. Look, I'm one of 'em, I can't even spell "Absaloutley" older generations seemed to care about something or other but my lot just seems to think "get through school, get wasted now and then, get a job" and that's as far as it goes. My generation is shite.
