He was playing against pitchers who had second jobs, were known to start on 1 or 2 days rest, and didn't know how to throw a slider...in a league that didn't allow minorities.

I seem to remember a whoooole lot of moaning from Philly sports nation when the championship drought was going on. Seems to me that no one remembers (and talks about) Philly failures of the past more than, well, Philly.
