Usually the light from the screen is enough to read the keys, unless you're in a pitch-black room with the brightness turned down. Besides, you should be able to touch type.
However, I think ASUS should have printed the letters on the keys in luminescent paint, that way they would at least glow for a short while
@deroowebas no i don't agree, I own this laptop now for about a month and the keyboard is fine, ok there is room for improvement but most laptop i have tested have a worser keyboard

Keys aren't backlit BUT...there is a mod to make them backlit.
