The Kings Park High School Chamber Singers performing Elegy for Dachau by Matthew Armstrong. Conducted by Mr. Ryan Flatt.
Composer's Notes:
In May, 1999, I was privileged to visit the memorial grounds of the former Nazi concentration camp in Dachau, Germany. It was a profound, awe-inspiring experience. The texts from Genesis 4 and Psalm 51, which serve as the basis of the A and B sections of this work, are posted in three languages (English, German, and Hebrew) on a plaque in the Church of Reconciliation at Dachau. For the final section of the work, I chose the portion of the text (in Hebrew) which concludes the Jewish Prayer of the Mourning, the Kaddish. I wish to acknowledge the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary, Darmstadt, Germany, who selected the verses that appear on the commemorative plaque which inspired this musical elegy.
I do not own this song.

@undivinexxgrace Yeah I think at one point in time we were a chamber choir but now we've just kept the name and are the school's honors level chorus.

Beautiful, love this song a beautiful performance....though rather large for a chamber choir.....nothing against that just an observation.....This was one of my favorite songs to learn, and learn to interpret into ASL

@BrisingrSaphira Yeah, really spread. Hey, thanks for the compliment, by the way. Don't talk about the blending or dynamics, or the fact that teenagers were able to give such a heartfelt performance regarding something they will hopefully never have to experience. If all you can do is insult the group performing, then why make a comment? I'm proud of what these students were able to accomplish with a song well beyond their years.
