  • Glass is probably the most influental serious composer when it comes to being copied- the "glass style" is used so often because it sends out the message of cold, emotionless construction and warm, heartfelt emotion at the same time.

Most "sad piano noodling" movie soundtracks of the last 15 years ripped off Glass' style, that probably ranks him up there with Gustav Holst, who get's ripped off when some fast paced orchestral music is needed.

A little more originality please, movie composers.

  • @telecasterfan1 you dont need the sheet, its easy.

  • @telecasterfan1 it is not a hard melody; the arpeggios is the most to work but if you play the piano is not difficult

  • @meg4man Hahahahahaha.. Brilliant!

  • "The Hours" brought me here :3 this song plays when Richard is jumping out of the window

  • Wow Alexandre Desplat ripped off Phillip Glass...

  • @VideoVanabe I think that the enthusiasm of many students is killed with boring music. You should play what you love to hear. Please don't throw way such a strong background on this great instrument! Music can serve amazing experiences if you get your heart into it. Start again, play what you love and play it by heart. Besides Philip Glass, Yann Tiersen, Michael Nyman and Ludovico Einaudi have been very inspiring composers to me.

  • Merci.

  • @telecasterfan1 It's really not too hard as the arpeggios differ from each other in only about 1-2 notes at any given time, with only 1-2 big switches occurring (or maybe that's Mad Rush I'm thinking of. They're similar, but Mad Rush is much more difficult). It all depends on how well you can get the rhythm (3 notes per note). I think you could do it. It's definitely no Rachmaninov Prelude op23 or anything.

  • @toolatepiano Good for you and your excellent attitude! I've learnt piano since I was 4 but gave up when I was 13. Since then the mention of anything related to the piano has been a sore spot in my heart. Back then I just played whatever my teacher threw my way. I got through examinations ok but never learnt to appreciated the life, emotions each song carries within itself. Philip Glass makes me think that I should pick up the piano again, start all over and play it with a heart this time :)

  • @toolatepiano Awesome, im gonna learn it! just got the sheet music!!!
