http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/ In "Living on the Edge," coming June 24 to PBS, producer/reporter Martin Smith presents a sobering look at communities around the world already devastated by global climate change.

In this clip, Smith heads to the foothills of the Himalayas, where Nepalese farmers are enjoying surprisingly good farming these days thanks to a disturbingly bad new reality: The glaciers of the Himalayas are disappearing faster than ice in any other part of the world. By 2035, scientists tell Smith, 80 percent of the glaciers will have disappeared. World-renowned filmmaker and mountaineer David Breashears helps Smith document the devastation. He shoots the main Rongbuk glacier at the foot of Mount Everest, famously photographed by explorer George Mallory in the early part of the twentieth century.

Watch "Living on the Edge" on PBS and online at http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld beginning June 24, 2008, now in full screen format for users with the latest version of Flash.

  • Propaganda! This proven to be lies. The IPCC based the disappearance of the world glaciers by 2035 on a magazine news story which in turn based it on "speculation" (a guess) by a unregarded Indian scientist. Don't believe me? Google it. AGW is a hoax.

  • we humans have not been good stewards over our planet and she has given so much
