Gabriel Faure is watching this performance from his perch In Paradisum and is saying (in French) "They have it exactly as I intended it. Bravo."
Look at the size of the orchestra - and the size of the choir.
What perfection - never to be equalled by a larger contingent of musicians.
This performance is a blessing to witness...and I never can listen to it without weeping.

I get a taste of heaven every time I hear this music. It is absolutely beautiful. And the vocalism on display here is stunning.

Wish I could hear the violin part better...this movement is the only time the violin is used, and its melody is used (sparingly) in other movements, so it is pretty important. I'm sure it's just the fault of the recording.

Beautiful phrasing in the treble at 1.43...soaring into those high notes!

Too bad about the "hiss", but a beautiful rendition of possibly one of the most perfect pieces of music ever written. Thanks for the all male choir, just doesn't work with soprano voices.

When i ws in a choir this was my favourite pice we did !.The silence in th Hall was amazing ,like the audience were in a trance .

@cublhammond I don't thinkl it is noisy enough for some people.
If you listen to noise long enough you can't really hear anything else

I wasn't well today (reaction to flu shot possibly and feasted my ears without interruption on music queued on your channel. I was a chorister until age 12 (sent away to boys' grammar school) in an Anglican choir and have loved the music you love since then. Thought I'd tell you.
