In this area of the river, much further North from Benaras, the water is very clear and beautiful. Rishikesh/Hardiwar are closer to the source, thus less human forces working toward polluting the river. Also, the traditions in this Holy community are different than the traditions in Benaras where they do discard bodies, ashes etc. into the water.
