The guy wakeboarding is getting up really oddly

ya, thats me alright. I prefer to start with the board in-line with the boat, and plane out of the water. This method requires balance before the boat starts to move. After starting this way over 100 times, its just natural now. Note: This video was my first time wakeboarding.

so you do it this way because you never learned how to do it the normal way?

normal is 90 degrees, pop up and go. I tried 7 times 'normal' and could not get up, just plowed water. The sideways balance and launch is more forgiving, and I never plow, just rise up naturally. So if riding a board lengthwise is 'normal', then why isn't starting in the water that way also considered normal?

Well when you pop up when your board is perpendicular to the boat you naturally have your board flatten and and straiten out. Plus when starting perpendicular to the boat is normal, it means the most common. look it up

When we get a wake-tower, i will get up the 'normal' way... and video the whole thing to music, cause its all rock 'n roll!!
