  • I like his message at the end. That really is what music is all about. You don't have to be flashy to make a contribution.

  • It's lovely to see tony on Youtube. I haven't seen him for about three years. It's like being in his company again. A lovely modest man. Bill Monroe is Godfather to Tonys son Bill.

  • love tonys playing real genius.

  • wow! i'v never put a lot of thought into it but this guy can do wonders. my grandpa used to be in a band with him and i have been to his house and its amazing what he can do.

  • What a treasure this man is. Wise, musical and genuine.

I wish I had discovered him years ago.

  • Just figured out that you can get Tony Ellis playing Red Rocking Chair on iTunes. They've got 46 of his songs.

Steve Martin (who lays banjo in addition to being a comedian) wrote a blurb for one of Tony's albums in which he spoke about the melancholy sound that Tony can pull from the banjo. Steve Martin must have been thinking about the beautiful way Tony plays Red Rocking Chair.

  • This guy is AWESOME!

He does an incredible version of Red Rocking Chair -- best version ever.

Wish he would post it to YouTube.

I own a double-CD set called "Gold Rush at Copper Creek" that has his Red Rocking Chair, and hae always wanted to see him play it on a video.

  • not only does his music stand on its own...but Mr. Ellis is a stand-up guy himself. Nice job there, Louise, on the pump organ also.
